Sense-Sational Results

Discover the benefits of sensory integration therapy methods with our occupational therapists.

Totaly Sense-Sational is a multidisciplinary treatment center focusing on sensory integration therapy and the holistic treatment of children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities and sensory processing disorder.

We aim to be a unique treatment facility in which we offer different therapeutic techniques for a variety of diagnoses.

T

Tomatis® Method of Auditory Stimulation

The Tomatis Method is an educational program that uses the transmission of music (Mozart and Gregorian Chant) and a person’s voice to help retrain the ear and brain to develop new neural circuits. It can help both children and adults develop effective and more productive coping strategies and regulation for improved focus and attention.

At Totaly Sense-Sational the Tomatis Method is used as a complementary approach in conjunction with SI/OT to help normalize areas of sensory processing, emotional regulation, stress, motor planning, communication and social interactions.

O & T

Occupational Therapy & Sensory Integration

Child’s work is play and Occupational Therapists work with children through play to help increase skills in the areas of fine and visual motor skills. At Totaly Sense-Sational, we provide 1:1 therapy that goes beyond that of standard pediatric OT. People of all ages are seen individually in a state of the art setting to address those with sensory processing disorder (SPD) and developmental disabilities through play.

We work closely with you and your family to address the foundational issues (poor muscle strength, sensory difficulties, auditory, visual and other processing difficulties) that are often the base cause of learning disabilities, attention disorders, and emotional difficulties. This SI/OT approach allows us to resolve problems before the child experiences failure and diminished self-esteem.

A

Art Therapy

Art Therapy at Totaly Sense-Sational is used both in conjunction with your SI/OT sessions through exploration of art, fine motor skills, and symbolic play or can be done individually with a certified Art Therapist in the clinic.

Art therapy is a process that enables unconscious and conscious thoughts and feelings to be expressed in a safe, appropriate, and productive manner, in order to facilitate a healing and life-enhancing experience. Different art media (including paint, clay, markers, crayons, stickers, etc.) is used to empower the child and to strengthen their sense of self.

L

Language Therapy

Many parents come to Totaly Sense-Sational because their child does not have enough
communication and language skills and find that speech therapy is not necessarily enough. At TSS we use DIR Floortime as an intervention to promote an individual’s development through play.

DIR uses the power of relationships and human connections to promote engagement,
communication, symbolic thinking and reasoning. It is an evidence-based approach to
promoting human development that is used with children, young adults, and even
adults…especially those on the autism spectrum.

Y

Yoga

Yoga supports the development of concentration, focus, and attention, as well as physical strength, flexibility, and healthy bodies. It provides the children with inner strength and body awareness and helps to increase self-confidence and self-esteem.

The individuals we work with at TSS all exhibit forms of SPD; and we have found that using yoga throughout a treatment session (individually or in a group) not only has a calming effect on the central nervous system, but also helps develop self-regulation, body awareness, and facilitates integration of primitive reflexes.

The interaction of a child and their environment through their physical senses can make certain aspects of life challenging, but it can also be used as a critical tool in development.
